Who is a Father? Reflections on Father's Day 2021

As We celebrate Father's Day 2021, the age-long question remains: Who is a Father?

Father's Day doesn't come often as we have for Women's Day. In fact, one will spend hours and days scouring the internet for a specific song in praise of fathers. You hardly ever hear anything in praise of the poor fathers who work their whole lives to put food on the table for the family.

Who is a Father?, Father's Day 2021 Is today Father's Day? Father's Day Wishes, Father's Day

To celebrate this year's Father's day, I will expound on the FATHERS acronym to explain who a father is.

F- Faithful: Faithfulness is a mark that is expected of every father and real man out there. Faithfulness means meeting up with your promises and commitments (as well as sticking by her side through thick and thin.

A- Always There: Closely associated with Faithfulness is the choice of always being there. I used the term CHOICE because it has to be done deliberately. Sadly, some father can be physically beside their women, but their heart is far away. Here is a call for all real fathers to be there always.

T- Trustworthy: Being able to be trusted is one other important trait of a real Father. Trust is expensive and has to b earned. Sadly, trust is one of the easiest things to lose in life. If you have a woman who trusts you, Dear Father bro, show some trust towards her, too.

H- Honoring: Honoring others and being honoured are important aspects of fatherhood. Just remember to have your personal honour intact as a Father-figure.

E- Ever-Loving: The ever-loving Father loves forever. He puts his heart into his family and friends and is always there when needed.

R- Righteous: Real Fathers are morally right or justifiable. We know them for having feelings of righteous indignation towards people and general phenomena. Such men are good, virtuous, upright, upstanding, decent, worthy and ethical.

S- Supportive: A supportive father is someone who provides emotional help and encouragement. Such a father is always encouraging his child.

To conclude this, remember that we didn't talk about age for being a father, neither did we mention those men who don't show concern for anyone.

Cheers to all responsible, emotional and biological fathers as the question still remains: Who is a Father?
